Project templates
Project templates let you spin up a new project that already has your typical phases, team roles, deliverables, and milestones — so you’re not rebuilding the same structure every time.
Creating or editing a template requires Edit All Projects permission. There are two ways to make one.
Build a template from scratch
Section titled “Build a template from scratch”-
Go to Projects → Templates and click New Template.
-
Enter a name, number, color, and whether it’s billable. (Colors are remembered — handy for color-coding, e.g. red for residential.)
-
In the budget screen — which works just like creating a project — add your service fee, phases, roles, and any consultant details.
-
Optionally add milestones and deliverables from the Template Overview, then click Done.
Keep templates as simple or detailed as you like — a template saves whatever you put in it.
Save an existing project as a template
Section titled “Save an existing project as a template”If a project is already set up the way you want:
-
Open the project and click More → Save as Template.
-
Enter the template name, number, color, and billable setting, then click Create.
-
Review the copied details — service fee, phases, fee types, assigned team — and edit anything you don’t want carried forward.
-
Click Done.
This creates a separate template; edits here never affect the original project.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Editing a template never changes projects already created from it — only future ones.
- Duplicate vs. Save as Template: Duplicate creates a new active project (and affects reporting); a template does not.
- Templates can’t be archived. To remove one, go to Projects → Templates and click Delete — this is permanent, but existing projects made from it are unaffected.
