Collaborating as a consultant

If an architecture firm has invited you to collaborate on a project in Monograph, this page is for you. A free consultant account lets you follow the project, track assigned deliverables, and send your invoices — no paid subscription required.

Accept the invitation & create your account

1. Open the invitation email from the firm and click Access Project.

2. Enter your name, company name, and email, then click Join now.

3. Verify your account using the link in the follow-up email. (No email? Click Resend email.)

Once you accept a firm’s first invitation, any future projects they add you to are accepted automatically, and your team gets an in-app notification.

Invite your team

Everyone on a free consultant account shares access to all your collaborative projects (free accounts don’t have permission levels).

1. Go to Staff → Team → Directory and click Invite team member.

2. Enter their name, email, and title, then click Send Invite.

Invited members show as Invited until they accept, then switch to Active. Free consultant accounts are never charged for adding team members.

What you can see and do

Your accepted projects appear in the Projects list with a Gantt chart of upcoming phases and milestones. Open a project to:

• See Your Snapshot — projected earnings (the budget the firm allocated to you) and assigned deliverables.
• Read the Weekly Pulse and respond to project notes (choose internal-team-only or share with everyone).
• Set your own budget on a phase, and add company-specific phases for extra work — both stay private to your firm.

What stays private

You can’t see the firm’s billable rates, budgets, or phase financials — and they can’t see yours. You also can’t edit a shared phase’s name, dates, or fee type; only the inviting firm can.

Invoice the firm

When it’s time to bill, upload your invoice directly in Monograph:

• From an invoice reminder email, click Upload Invoice.
• Or from the project Overview page or the Invoices page, click Upload Invoice.

Free accounts upload a PDF; paid Monograph accounts can build invoices in-app. If both you and the firm use Monograph Payments (free to sign up via Stripe), you can be paid directly through Monograph.

Don't want an account?

You can skip the account entirely — just reply to a bill request email with your invoice PDF attached, and it becomes a bill in the firm’s account. To stop reminders, use the Opt out link in the email.

Notifications

You’ll automatically follow any project you’re invited to. Manage alerts in your Employee Profile — including bills awaiting review, invoice accepted/rejected, payments, and reminders to submit an invoice. Follow or unfollow projects to control what you hear about.
