Notifications

Notifications keep you on top of what matters — project updates, comments, invoice activity, and time-off approvals — without living in the app. You control your own preferences, and Admins set a few firm-wide reminders.

Click the bell icon in the left menu, just below your firm’s logo. A red badge shows your unread count (it maxes out at 99). Notifications are grouped by timeframe (Today, This Week, Last Week, Older), and clicking one opens the related item so you can act on it.

  • Switch between the Unread tab and the All tab (full history).
  • Hover a notification and click Mark as Read to clear it.

They cover activity across your work — deliverables (assigned, due, completed, commented), milestones, project and phase changes (including phases trending over budget), consultant bills, invoice change requests, team-capacity alerts, and timesheet reminders.

Email comes in two formats: batch emails bundle many updates into a scheduled digest (up to 50 per email), while individual emails are sent on their own — things like weekly phase-budget insights, capacity updates, invoice rejections (sent immediately), and weekly timesheet reminders.

Emails fall into two groups:

  • Personally-managed — the ones you control on your own Notifications page.
  • Firm-managed — set by an Admin for everyone (weekly timesheet reminders, time-off approvals). These can’t be changed per person.

Go to Settings → Notifications. Preferences are split into General notifications and Project notifications, and each can be delivered by email, in-app (desktop), or both — just check or uncheck the boxes.

Follow projects to control project notifications

Section titled “Follow projects to control project notifications”

Project notifications only go out for projects you follow. You automatically follow a project when you create it or are assigned to it.

  • Unfollow: In Notifications → Project Notifications, turn on Show projects you are following, then click Unfollow — or open the project, click More, and choose Unfollow project. Every project email also has an unfollow link.
  • Follow: Use the same More menu on any project to Follow it.

The options on your Notifications page depend on your permission level. For example:

  • Invoice and bill alerts appear only with the Edit invoices and bills permission.
  • Employee and firm capacity appears with the Manage staffing permission.
  • Timesheets without a role and activity appears with the Edit all timesheets permission.

If a notification you’d expect isn’t listed, your permission level probably doesn’t include that area — ask an Admin. Note that notifications can’t be fully disabled, and you can’t edit anyone else’s preferences.

Admins can send the whole team an automatic weekly timesheet reminder (email plus mobile push, if the person has the mobile app).

  1. Go to Settings → App Defaults → Reminder Notification.

  2. Turn on the Reminder notification toggle.

  3. Set the day and time to send, and customize the message if you’d like (links aren’t supported in the message).

Everyone receives this reminder — even people who’ve already submitted their timesheet for the week.
